Question Answer
How do I set up the printer? 1. Firstly connect the power cable into the printer and the interface cable (serial / parallel / USB etc.) into your PC.
2. Load the labels (and ribbon if applicable) as described in the user guide.
3. Switch on the printer, this should be found automatically by your PC if not Add a new printer through the control panel.
4. Run through the wizard, selecting the drivers from the CD supplied with the printer.
5. Once installed you can print using the Zebra Designer software supplied with the printer, programs such as Word or bespoke programs that have been set up for you.
6. You will need to adjust the temperature (density) and speed settings in the printer properties to reach your desired quality of print on the label.
How do I calibrate the printer / What should I do if the printer is not recognising the size of the label?
Turn the printer off at the back. Keep your finger pressed on the feed button while turning it on. The light on the printer will start to flash red. As soon as it does, release your finger from the button. This will cause the printer to advance a few labels and then print a configuration print out. After print out press the feed button again, this will get it out of dump mode, and should print "out of dump". Now pressing feed should cause the printer to advance one label and stop on the gap.
My labels are not printing correctly even though I have performed a calibration, What do I do?
The probability is that the printer is in the wrong mode. Look at the calibration label and look at the 3rd line down to see if it says line or page mode. It should be in page mode. If it is not then you need to turn off your printer at the back then press and hold the feed key as you turn the power back on. When the light starts to flash release your finger from the key. Then, when the light begins to flash again press and hold the feed key until the light turns red or amber then release your finger from the key again. Now wait for the light to become solid and press the feed key once. Now print a configuration label to check that you are in the correct mode, if not then try again. If you are still experiencing problems then please call.
What label design software should I be using?
Depending on your application this can vary, for very basic applications the printer is supplied with a free edition of Zebra Designer. For other applications please view label software where demo software is available to download or call sales on 01536 414222 for personalised advice.
